EXPRESSWAY AUTHORITY TO HOLD COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR

Family Event to Celebrate Opening of the New SR 408 Lake Underhill Pedestrian Walkway
The Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority (OOCEA) will be holding a Community Health Fair on Saturday, March 6, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to celebrate the opening of the Lake Underhill Bridge pedestrian walkway alongside State Road 408 (Spessard L. Holland East-West Expressway). This family event, located at Lake Underhill Park on 4355 Lake Underhill Road, Orlando, FL 32803, is open to the public and will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:15 a.m. with community dignitaries followed by a 1.25 mile group-walk around Lake Underhill.
Partner booths will include:
- Orange County Department of Health will provide information on how to protect yourself from H1N1 Influenza;
- American Heart Association will be promoting their Start! program which encourages walking as a way to fend off cardiovascular disease, information on risk factors and more;
- Florida's Blood Center's "Little Red Bus" will provide participants the opportunity to donate blood;
- Orlando Wellness Center offering complimentary Body Mass Index (BMI) and Body Fat screenings;
- Free massage therapy from Keiser University.
For children:
- The Florida Highway Patrol will be providing free children’s bicycle helmets (while quantities last);
- Clowns to entertain children with balloon animals and face painting.
Event parking for the public will be available nearby at the First Alliance Church of Orlando located at 3800 Lake Underhill Road, Orlando, FL 32803.
The Expressway Authority is nearing completion on the widening of SR 408 from Crystal Lake Drive to Conway Road. This work is part of a $640 million SR 408 widening and improvements project from the Florida Turnpike interchange to State Road 417 (Central Florida Greeneway).
