STATE ROAD 417 CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

State Road 417 (Central Florida Greeneway) Moss Park Road Interchange Project

To prepare for future growth and to improve traffic flow on State Road 417 (Central Florida Greeneway), the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority (OOCEA) has built a new interchange from SR 417 to Moss Park Road. This new interchange is one of several projects planned that will provide improved mobility for those living and working in southeast Orange County. Construction on this project began in June 2008 and work was completed in December 2009.

This project involved the building of a full interchange at the SR 417/Moss Park Road intersection. Toll plazas featuring Express Lanes were also constructed on the southbound and northbound on-ramps from Moss Park Road to SR 417. This project also included the installation of two new traffic signals on Moss Park Road. Currently, more than 35,000 vehicles a day travel this section of SR 417. That traffic volume is projected to increase to 124,400 by 2030.

State Road 417 (Central Florida Greeneway) Innovation Way Interchange Project

The Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority (OOCEA) opened the new State Road 417 (Central Florida Greeneway) Innovation Way Interchange in December 2009. The SR 417 Innovation Way Interchange project is a key component for Orange County's overall Innovation Way Corridor Project. This new interchange is one of several projects planned that will provide improved mobility for those living and working in southeast Orange County.

This $14.7 million project involved the building of a full interchange that is located where Dowden Road currently ends at SR 417 with a total distance of 1.2 miles. Toll plazas featuring Express Lanes were constructed on the southbound and northbound on-ramps from Innovation Way to SR 417. Currently, more than 37,000 vehicles a day travel this section of SR 417. That traffic volume is projected to increase to 131,800 by 2030.

State Road 417 (Central Florida Greeneway) Boggy Creek Road Interchange South Access Road Project

To improve access to the Orlando International Airport and accommodate the future improvements at the SR 417/Boggy Creek Road Interchange, the Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority (OOCEA) is reconstructing the SR 417/Boggy Creek Road Interchange South Access Road. This work consists of building an extension of the current four lane rural section of the Orlando International Airport (OIA) South Access Road south over the Boggy Creek Road and the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) railroad crossing. The work includes widening the OIA South Access Road from a two lane section to a four lane section. It also includes the construction of a new 290 foot span concrete bridge and new drainage, roadway lighting, utility relocation and signing and pavement marking. The project length is 0.61 miles long and is being built largely within the existing right-of-way by reconfiguring the median and road/bridge shoulders. However, occasional traffic shifts, temporary lane closures and rolling roadblocks will be necessary in order to accommodate this project.
